50 years of climate research - Events 2025

Since its foundation in 1975, the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology has shaped the international standard for climate knowledge - from innovative observations to groundbreaking climate models and important contributions to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. A special moment in this history was the award of the Nobel Prize in Physics to our founding director Klaus Hasselmann in 2021.

To mark our anniversary, we are offering a varied program in Hamburg for everyone: employees, guests, neighbors, interested parties.

Join us and celebrate 50 years of climate research! Our calendar of events below shows when and where you can find out more about exciting topics in climate science. The program is constantly being updated. All events are of course free of charge!
