Climate Dynamics Workshop

Idea

The aim of the workshop is to establish a network of climate dynamics working groups and to encourage collaboration across the groups. The workshop will involve around 40 people. Expect lots of space for discussion and interaction. The goal is to get to know each other, learn about each other's research, and find potential for synergies and joint projects. We hope that this meeting can kick off a sustained partnership with recurring meetings.

Posters

We ask all participants to prepare a poster showcasing their research.

Breakout groups

There will be two kinds of breakout groups that participants can sign up for.

1. Prior to the workshop, early carreer scientists are encouraged to propose small projects in the project pad to jointly work on during the workshop and afterwards. These projects should be truly "low-hanging fruits", i.e., closed questions that can be addressed in collaboration within a limited amount of time. Participants involved in one of these breakout groups are invited to stay until Saturday to continue working on these projects.

2. We do not expect everyone to commit to a low hanging fruits project. As an alternative, participants can form groups to network and come up with other things to discuss. Possible sessions could be Research hacks / best practices, How to deal with Big Data, AI tools, jointly (re-)visiting a landmark paper, ...

There will be plenty of time to work in the breakout groups. Both kinds of breakout group will require active participation.

Location

The workshop is hosted by the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology from 2 - 4 March in Ringberg castle. You can find information about how to get there here.
