I am a postdoc at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology. I study convection and how they interact with large-scale circulation.
Current projects:
1) Understanding the thermal structure in the tropics (Are the horizontal temperatures in the tropical free troposphere homogeneous? Is the lapse rate moist-adiabatic?)
2) Convective organization in global storm-resolving simulations (impacts on precipitation extremes; interactions between convective organization and environments in larger-scales)
Besides the above, I am also interested in questions related to tropical convection (e.g. cold pools, ITCZ), clouds and climate sensitivity (pattern effect).
