Joint Seminar: Peat deposits as records of changing global atmospheric trace metal fluxes

Recent work showed that the isotope and trace element geochemistry of peat bogs enables us to study past atmospheric dust fluxes and changes in atmospheric circulation. These processes are of key importance to understand past climate change, yet the lack of suitable archives hindered advances in this area. In my talk I will present examples of our work on the occurrence of the Younger Dryas in SE-Asia, evidences of the Heinrich events in tropical Australia and the dynamics of the Asian monsoon system.
