MPI-M at Hamburg´s science festival “Sommer des Wissens”

The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) takes part in this year's science festival "Sommer des Wissens" at the Rathausmarkt in Hamburg. From 20 to 23 June, Hamburg's scientists will be presenting their diverse research. Around 40 research institutions in four large theme tents offer fascinating insights into the environment, technology, medicine, art, music and the history of the city.

In the area "Zukunftswerkstatt", climate research of MPI-M and its partners, the Center for Earth System Research and Sustainability (CEN), the Cluster of Excellence "Climate, Climatic Change, and Society" (CLICCS), and Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht (HZG) can be found. The science festival offers many attractions—from experiments and participatory activities to lectures and exhibits. MPI-M scientists Dirk Notz and Stephanie Fiedler, for example, will give lectures as part of the special school program, which was booked out early on. Climate simulations of the MPI-M are presented on the climate globe of the German Climate Computing Centre (DKRZ).

The science festival combines the events "Day of Science" and "Night of Science", which are popular with all age groups, at a central point in the heart of Hamburg. On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of Universität Hamburg, the university celebrates the science festival together with other research institutions. Admission is free.
