The Ocean in the Earth System

Ocean Biogeochemistry

Research interest

I am interested in understanding global climate changes from the Holocene to the Pleistocene using both data and models. Currently my main focus is to understand the influence of the terrestrial sources of organic carbon and nutrients on the global ocean biogeochemistry in a context of sea level changes over the last climatic cycle. I then investigate if the land-sea carbon transfer on the shelves plays a substantial role for the glacial-interglacial CO2 variations. I use the Max Planck Institute’s Earth System Model to investigate this topic and quantify the feedbacks between the different components of the Earth system.
