I am interested in short- to midterm climate predictions for up to 10 years ahead. In particular, I aim at describing physical mechanisms that enable and/or modulate climate predictions on this time scale. I use global climate model simulations to examine the effects of changes in Atlantic ocean circulation on European surface climate and the predictability of these effects on the decadal time scale.
Political Activities
In 2017, I served as Spokesperson for the Max Planck PhDnet, the association of Doctoral Researchers within the Max Planck Society (https://www.phdnet.mpg.de/3053/About_the_PhDnet). For some time now, I have been active in PhDnet and as advisory board member within N², the Network of Doctoral Researcher Networks (https://www.phdnet.mpg.de/N2), working to achieve a fair, equal, innovative science system in Germany.
