Research Interest

Tropical large-scale circulations, such as the Hadley Cell and Walker Circulation, play a crucial role in Earth’s climate system. These circulations redistributed heat and moisture from the equatorial regions to higher latitudes, helping to balance the global energy budget. Tropical precipitation is closely linked to these circulation patterns. These circulation and precipitation patterns are expected to undergo significant changes under ongoing global warming. My research focuses on understanding how and why these circulation and precipitation patterns will change in a warmer climate.

Ongoing research topics

  1. Fast and slow responses of ITCZ width to CO2 forcing
  2. Inter-model spread of "deep tropics squeeze" in CMIP6
  3. Compare Hadley cell change in Global storm-resolving model (ICON) and CMIP6
  4. Sahel seasonal rainfall change in ICON
