Global cloud-drop number concentration climatology

The goal of this project is to synthesize existing measurements of cloud droplet number concentrations to develop a new global climatology of cloud drop number concentration for use in the study of aerosol cloud interactions.

The new climatology will fuse measurements from satellite remote sensing and in situ measurements.

Depending on the student's progress and interest the project can also be extended to include ice concentration measurements, or links to existing aerosol climatologies (perhaps as interpreted through fine-scale modeling), or experiments with a general circulation model using the new climatology.

The student will work with Prof. Stevens and cooperate with the members of the Observations and Process Studies group and the Hans Ertel Zentrum.
