Climate research asks for long, stable data records. This is not yet given for all geophysically interesting quantities. In this talk, I present the current work undertaken in the Horizon2020 project FIDUCEO in order to fulfil these requirements of Climate Research: our goal is to produce new Fundamental Climate Data Records for satellite-borne VIS, IR and MW instruments. The new data records (at first on radiance level) 1. come in an easy-to-use format, 2. include extensive uncertainty information, 3. are reconciled or harmonised between instruments of the same family. I will explain the FIDUCEO approach and point out our main achievements so far, focussing on my work on the MW humidity sounders.
