KlimaCampus Kolloquium: Glaciers under climate change

There are approximately 200.000 individual glaciers globally, scattered from low-latitude high mountains to high-latitude islands and to the fringes of the ice sheets. Each one adapts to changing climate conditions individually, not only causing effects of different kind and magnitude but also telling different stories about the drivers for their change. In search of and in order to put light on these different aspects of glacier change I will travel through space, time, and methods from the 17th century glaciers of the Ötztal Alps to the highest low-latitude mountains, the global perspective, and back to the Ötztal Alps where we find modern laboratory-like conditions for detailed studies of the glacier-atmosphere interaction.
