The Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) is a multidisciplinary centre for climate research located in Hamburg, Germany. It has an internationally recognised reputation in climate modelling. The MPI-M is located in the heart of one of Europe's most liveable and vibrant cities. It provides a highly international and interdisciplinary environment for conducting scientific research as well as access to state-of-the-art scientific facilities.
In the department The Atmosphere in the Earth System, we are looking for a
for research in the joint project “The quasi-biennial oscillation in a changing climate” (QUBICC), which contributes to the BMBF funded research programme "Role Of the Middle atmosphere In Climate” (ROMIC-II). The focus of the research will be on processes by which the quasi-biennial oscillation of stratospheric winds can modify tropical deep convection. The position involves the evaluation and execution of storm resolving numerical experiments based on the ICON atmosphere model. The successful candidates will be part of the Research Group Wave Driven Circulation in the Department The Atmosphere in the Earth System.
