The Library and Information Service (BIS) is the joint library for the Max-Planck-Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) and institutes of the Center for Earth System Science and Sustainability. The cooperation with some university institutes regarding the library exists since the foundation of the MPI-M in 1975.

Publications of the MPI-M

The publications' metadata and fulltexts are stored on the Max-Planck-Society's repository MPG.PuRe

Publication lists for the departments or our scientific working groups can be found on their web pages. Recent publicationsand more publicationlists are generated in the Science area.

Since 2004 the institute publishes the Reports on Earth System Science which include scienctific and technical reports and doctoral theses. Until 2004 the MPI-Report and the Examensarbeiten were the institutional report series.

The Max Planck Society offers various scientific information resources and tools. Available are Web of Science or Scopus and many special abstracts- and fulltext databases.

Electronic Journals Library (EZB) provides a simple and direct access to the contents of thousands of electronic journals. It includes all e-journals subscribed to by our institute, all e-journals centrally licensed by the MPS, as well as numerous e-journals that are available for free on the internet.

Online Journals

We cannot offer all e-book titles via our library catalogue. All licensed e-books are searchable via the central catalogue of the MPS.
