MPI-M welcomes Humboldt Research Fellow Suneet Dwivedi

The Alexander von Humboldt Foundation awarded Prof Dr Suneet Dwivedi a Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers. He started working remotely at the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology (MPI-M) on 01 December 2020.

Humboldt Research Fellow Suneet Dwivedi

Prof Dwivedi is a Professor at the K. Banerjee Centre of Atmospheric and Ocean Studies, University of Allahabad, India. His research interests focus on the mathematical modeling of the atmosphere and ocean, ocean circulation modeling and data assimilation, and the prediction of Indian summer monsoon rainfall. At MPI-M, he will work with his official host Prof Jochem Marotzke and Dr Wolfgang Müller in the department “The Ocean in the Earth System” for a period of 18 months. Prof Dwivedi will try to determine the predictability of the Indian monsoon on decadal time scales using data from the MiKlip project.

Prof Dwivedi: “Working on a Humboldt research fellowship and that too at one of the world’s best scientific institution with a team of world-renowned distinguished scientists is a great opportunity for me. I would like to express my deep sense of gratitude and appreciation towards Prof Jochem Marotzke and Dr Wolfgang Müller for their excellent support and cooperation.”

About the Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers
The Humboldt Research Fellowship for Experienced Researchers addresses post-doctoral researchers with above-average qualifications from across the globe – regardless of their field. It will enable the scientists to conduct their own research in collaboration with a host at a German research institution of their own choice. Fellowships may last from 6 to 18 months and can be divided into up to three stays within three years.
